Free listings for Book Sales

Whether it's a store sale or a fundraiser, just send the details and we'll put it in here.
We need to know full address, dates & times of the sale, approximate number of books,
and types of payment accepted - ie cheques, visa, mc, debit card...
Phone or email address would be handy.
Bookstores (used bookstores only) must have their store listed on this site - listing is
free as well. Must be a significant sale - not just the dollar books in front of the store.
Free listings accepted at our discretion.

Portland, Maine (not Oregon!)

Portland’s biggest BOOK SALE ever
promised by Friends of Portland Public Library
June 24 - June 27, 2010

Friends of Portland Public Library Spearheads Book Sale at Deering
High School Cafeteria

Preview Sale:        Friends of Portland Public Library only (not a
Friend? Join online or at the door!)
Thursday, June 24:  5 - 7 pm
Public Sale:         Friday, June 25:  10 am - 7 pm, Saturday and
Sunday, June 26-27:  10 am - 5 pm

Book sales are nothing new to Portland Public Library, but this year
the sale will be bigger than ever thanks to the efforts of the newly
formed Friends of Portland Public Library.  For the first time, the
book sale will take place outside the Library, in a place large enough
to handle tens of thousands of volumes.

Friends of PPL was created last year to further the mission of the
Library and promote community engagement among Library
patrons.  Working in close partnership with the Library, they are
organizing the sale at Deering High School cafeteria on Friday June
25, Saturday, June 26, and Sunday, June 27.  A special “Friends
Only” preview will take place on Thursday, June 24 from 5-7 pm.  Not
a friend of the Library yet?  Join at the door:  individual memberships
are only $10.  All Friends Members receive 10% off book sales.

Friend’s President Ted Spitzer said “Much smaller communities
around Maine have raised much more money for their public libraries
through book sales.  Friends of Portland Public Library aims to run
the largest book sale in the entire state, offering the biggest selection
of books and other media, and raising the most money for the public
library.” Information about Friends of PPL can be found at www.
friendsofppl.org.

With over 20,000 items to sell, including music CDs and DVDs, this is
shaping up to be a not-to-be missed opportunity to pick up some
fantastic titles while helping out the Portland Public Library.  All sales
support the Library!

The Friends is looking for a few additional volunteers.  Please email
info@friendsofppl.org for more information.
